Getting into the spirit of the season
No one in history ever explained freedom better, lived it more completely, or paid a higher price for it than Jesus Christ. And no one else can set you free like he does. So catch the spirit of Freedom Season, start celebrating, and spread the word!
Choose whatever methods you like under the "How to SYNC" tab to help you get into the spirit of Freedom Season. You will SYNC with the plan and strategy God had in mind when he brought Jesus back to life to continue his freedom mission. You will know who you are, and you will like what you are becoming under the influence of Jesus' Spirit--an embodiment and an agent of the freedom he declared for the world.
In 2018, Freedom Season is March 25 - May 9, that is, from Palm Sunday through the day before Ascension Day. Here are some basics about the season. Don't get lost in the details. Read a little. SYNC a lot.
Your goal during Freedom Season
SYNC with God's freedom! Welcome, enjoy, and overflow with the freedom Jesus Christ proclaimed on earth. Walk the path to freedom that God opened by raising Jesus from the grave. Stop living as an addict, a victim, or a prisoner of anything. Those things cannot define and run your life when Christ takes over.
How do you get free?
Repeat the two following things often (both are on the Freedom Season meme )
1. The Freedom Declaration
This is a resurrection day, and we are free!
As a person in SYNC with Jesus, you are authorized to declare this, so use your authority. Shape your world. Make your day.
2. The Freedom Prayer that SYNCs us with the Declaration
Make us a drum declaring freedom is here. Let it beat, let it beat, let it beat.
Why do these statements work?
Because the King is listening. He loves to hear that faith declaration, and he loves to answer that prayer, which is one way we say, "SYNC me!"
The big idea
The big idea behind it all is that Jesus was sent to earth to declare a new era of freedom for God's people under his kingship. Powerful enemies executed him to prove he was not a king and his declaration had no authority behind it. God raised the executed "criminal" to prove he really did have the authority to make that declaration. So the declaration stands! We really are living in the new era of freedom, and the seal of God the King on the freedom declaration is the resurrection of Jesus the Messiah.
The symbolic colors for Freedom Season are black and white, reminding us of the darkness of the tomb and the white of the light of a new day when Jesus rose, a day of freedom. The Freedom Meme shows an ancient tomb with the stone rolled back from its doorway. The Freedom Icon shows the same idea. It is as if freedom had been locked in the tomb of Jesus, but now the tomb is open and freedom is pouring out into the world.

Key Freedom Season verse in the Old Testament
"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the prisoners.” Isa 61.1, quoted by Jesus in Lk. 4.18
Like all the other SYNC seasons, Freedom Season links you, your world, and your day today back to something huge God has done.
To "SYNC" with that God-thing means to align yourself with God's intentions when he did it. In this case the God-thing is the resurrection of Jesus on the third day after his execution.
Freedom Season celebrates the implications of that fantastic fact.
We know who we are--free citizens of Jesus' kingdom.
We know why we are here--to spread the news of the new era of freedom under Jesus Christ.
We know that no power can cancel this freedom unless it can put Jesus back into the tomb.
This means we are for everyone and against no one. God wants everyone to share in Christ's freedom. Our job as freedom agents is to freely invite them all in, even those who least deserve it.
As the People of God, we do not have to band together to conquer anything, impose anything, or govern anything. We have no assignment for any of that, only to keep declaring true freedom in Christ.
