Who/what you get to be
The meme is a summary of the whole point of Power Season. The dove is the traditional symbol of the Holy Spirit, and the point is that the dove has landed on/in us.
We are living with the power of the Holy Spirit, showing that the resurrected Jesus is continuing his life-giving work through us. He is producing his character in us (“the fruit of the Spirit”) and he is empowering us to be signs of his life (“the gifts of the Spirit”).
The goal of Power Season, May 10 – August 6, is to get this meme on your mind and watch what God does then.
May 10 - Aug. 6, 2018
Meme = Declaration + Prayer + Image
Without adding any time or pressure to your schedule, the meme affects how you See Yourself iN Christ. Very easy to share or to show and talk about if you make it a screen saver.
The Power Declaration (below) tells us who we are because the Holy Spirit was poured out on Jesus’ followers on Pentecost Day. The Power Prayer invites God to empower us for our part in the mission of everyone who has received the Spirit of Christ. The Power Image and Icon help us remember both.
The Power Declaration
The "Power Declaration" is, "This is a Pentecost day, and we have power."
The Power Declaration is based on Jesus' own promise, “You shall receive power after the Holy Spirit comes on you” (Acts 1.8) As that power changed his followers and as they used it to carry on Jesus’ mission, they would be walking, talking, miraculous exhibits of his power as the resurrected King.
The authorities executed Jesus to prove his proclamation of God’s kingdom was meaningless because he had no kingly power. They held all the power, including the power to kill him. God vindicated Jesus when he raised him from the dead. In other words, Jesus' proclamation was true, Jesus is alive, and Jesus really is the new King who changes the whole world.
It is not merely his teaching that changes the world. Jesus knew that humans do not have the power needed to follow any teaching, however good it may be. He gave his followers the power they lacked by sending his own spirit, the Holy Spirit, to live in them, transform them, and empower them to carry on his mission.
By living under the control and in the power of that Spirit, we signal that Jesus is alive and well. We invite people to join us in that kind of life, the most significant life there is.
The Power Prayer
The "Power Prayer" is, "Make us a signal of the Spirit’s power. Let it work. Let it work. Let it work.”
The Power Prayer SYNCs us with God's intentions when he sent the Holy Spirit down from heaven into his followers. We have a share in the work Jesus launched, showing his ongoing power to forgive, to heal, to bless, and to transform.
In fact, he does all this by the power of his Spirit in us. We are almost observers. We have nothing to brag about. The more his power works through us, the more obvious it is that the power can’t be coming from us. It is a signal that there must be a God.

The Power Image and Icon
The Power Image (top of page) shows a dove landing. The dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit, our unseen connection with the power of Jesus the Messiah.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”Acts 1.8
The Power Icon also shows a dove. The grayish tan color is a typical color of many doves.
