Getting into the spirit of the season
No one in history ever had as much raw spiritual power as Jesus Christ did. No one ever used power better. No one else can share his power with us now as Jesus can. So let us give him power over our lives and celebrate our chance to participate in his mission of transforming the world.
Choose whatever methods you like under the "How to SYNC" tab to help you get into the spirit of Power Season. You will SYNC with the plan and strategy Jesus had in mind when he poured out the Holy Spirit to empower his followers. You will know who you are, and you will like what you are becoming under the influence of Jesus' Spirit--an embodiment and an agent of the transforming power he sent into the world.
In 2018, Power Season is May 10 - August 6, that is, from Ascension Day through the Feast of the Transfiguration. Here are some basics about the season. Don't get lost in the details. Read a little. SYNC a lot.
Your goal during Power Season
SYNC with God's power! Welcome, enjoy, and overflow with the power for good that Jesus Christ showed on earth. Live in the power he made available when he poured out his Spirit on his followers. Stop living as a spiritual weakling or coward. That is not who you are when Christ lives in you.
How do you get free?
Repeat the two following things often (both are on the Power Season meme )
1. The Power Declaration to get on your mind
This is a Pentecost day, and we have power.
Note: Start each day in Power Season by making this Declaration. As a person in SYNC with Jesus, you are authorized to declare this, so use your authority. Shape your world. Make your day.
2. The Power Prayer that SYNCs us with the Declaration
Make us a signal of the Spirit's power. Let it work. Let it work. Let it work.
Why do these statements work?
Because the King is listening. He loves to hear that faith declaration, and he loves to answer that prayer, which is one way we say, "SYNC me!"
The big idea
The big idea behind it all is that the risen Jesus holds all power in heaven and on earth (Mt. 28.19). His strategy is power-sharing. He connects his followers to his power by giving them his Spirit so they can continue his mission, and Pentecost Day was the day he poured out his Spirit. So the declaration stands! We really are living in the new era of power, and the seal of King Jesus on the Power Declaration is the humanly impossible things his Spirit does in and through us.
The symbolic color for Power Season is the common tan color of doves, reminding us of the Spirit descending like a dove. The Power Meme shows a dove landing. The Power Icon shows the same idea. Doves are usually symbols of peace not power, but the Holy Spirit is a symbol of both. Peace comes as this Spirit exercises his power in us.

Like all the other SYNC seasons, Power Season links you, your world, and your day today back to something huge God has done.
To "SYNC" with that God-thing means to align yourself with God's intentions when he did it. In this case the God-thing is the pouring out of the Holy Spirit ten days after Jesus ascended to take his heavenly throne.
Power Season celebrates the implications of that fantastic fact.
We know who we are--empowered representatives of King Jesus
We know why we are here--to show that Jesus' power is working by proxy now, and we are the proxies
We know that no power can stop us now unless it can push the Holy Spirit back up to heaven, undoing Pentecost
But as agents of God's power we always have to remember that the symbol of our power is a dove not a lion. We do not have use our power to intimidate anyone, conquer anything, impose anything, or govern anything. Rather we are evidence that Jesus' power is still working, still transforming the world into a place of healing and peace.
