Daily/Weekly Bible readings

As you read the Bible, think "rhythm and response". What is the rhythm or beat of this part of Scripture? What is here that is supposed to move you?

How will you respond? How will you move as you SYNC with that rhythm? How will you celebrate, obey, or share something that has moved you?

In SYNC with Christ, you receive his Spirit. It's like having another person living inside you, getting you through what you could not get through on your own. There is no quit in the Spirit of Jesus. His Spirit is closer to you than a close friend, more brotherly than a brother.

One way the Spirit gives you inner strength is by highlighting certain phrases and ideas for you as you read the Bible. Try it, and watch this happen over and over as if by magic. And remember, he never highlights anything he will not give you the power to SYNC with and act on.

Daily/Weekly Bible reading list for Grit Season
September 19 - November 24, 2018

-----------------------

AS YOU READ

What rhythm of God do you hear?   (story, command, insight, etc.)

How do you respond to that rhythm?  (feeling, praise, action, etc.)

-----------------------
It's not how much you read.
It's how much you SYNC because of whatever you read.

Seasonal NT Scriptures:
38 chapters, 64 days, 0.6 ch./day

Seasonal OT Scriptures:
157 chapt., 64 days, 2.4 ch./day

Daily Bible readings in the New Testament column cover the whole New Testament in one year, and the Old Testament readings cover the whole Old Testament. However, you do not read through the Bible directly from start to finish.

In each SYNC season, the biblical books you read are those that emphasize the seasonal theme most clearly. For example, during Grit Season, you read books like Numbers, about the hard times Israel went through en route to the Promised Land; Philippians, written by Paul from a jail cell; and 1 and 2 Peter, written to people who were being attacked and shamed because they followed Jesus.

FAQs

Why are these books chosen as the readings for Grit Season?

Courage and unwavering commitment are prominent themes in each book. Most of these books are written to or about people going through great uncertainty, risk, or pain.

Should I try to catch up if I miss some of the readings?

No. Too easy to get discouraged if you try that. Concentrate on SYNCing with Christ in whatever the reading is for today.
