As members of God's CHB (connect, heal, bless) campaign team, we can never get enough of the Bible, which is basically the story of the CHB campaign from ancient times to today and into the future.
The Bible readings for Life Season tell us how the whole story started. The world was full of life. It was connected to God, blessed with everything imaginable, and it had no wounds or diseases to heal. But humans broke the connection, forfeited many of the blessings, and got some serious scars to show for it. All this is Genesis 1-11.
That is why God had to launch his "CHB" campaign through Abraham in Genesis 12, to (re)connect, heal, and bless the world that had fallen apart. The rest of the Bible is the story of that campaign, including what life should be like now, how God's campaign is bringing life already, and some short previews of what the world will look like when the campaign gets the final victory.
SYNC breaks the biblical story into seven parts. The Life Season is the introductory part. Listen for the "Life rhythm" in the readings listed below--the sound of how life was, is supposed to be, and can be for those who are connected, healed, and blessed.
The readings for Life Season focus on the parts of the Bible that say the most about life as we know it--where it came from, what it means, how to live it, how to bless others with it.
Each time you read a Bible passage in this reading list, keep asking yourself:
What kind of life do we bring, and how do we bring it? What is this Bible passage telling me about God's campaign to connect, heal, and bless the world?
How do I fit into the campaign as a life-bringer? What is God's Spirit saying to me through this passage about my activity today as a campaign team member?
As you answer those questions, you will be dancing to the "Life rhythm" of the Bible. Let it move you in some really good ways.
NOTE: Whenever the reading guide says "intro," as on January 2nd, it means "intro to the biblical book you are about to start reading." We recommend the book intros in The Message version of the Bible by Eugene Peterson because they give the clearest and most potent descriptions of the significance of each book for today. These are not available free on-line as far as we know, but are worth the price of the book (Kindle available). Or go on-line for a video introduction such as https://fullerstudio.fuller.edu/introduction-to-john/ or a written one such as this very short one (Blue Letter Bible) or this more traditional one (NIV Study Bible).
If you also read the parts listed in the other six SYNC "seasons," you will cover the whole Bible in a year.
If you only read once a week, choose the yellow highlighted chapters.
Holiday parties use the chapters highlighted for red letter days.
