What do I have to believe first?

Not a lot. Basically you have to admire Jesus enough that it sounds like a better idea to be in SYNC with him than out of SYNC with him. If you believe that, SYNC is worth a try.

Caution: SYNCing only makes sense if you trust Jesus enough to let him do a make-over on you. If you want him to SYNC with you on your terms, these exercises will not help you. These assume that Jesus is the King, and we SYNC with the King on his terms or not at all.

His terms are good terms since he knows and values each of us. He hates standardization. He owns no cookie cutters. But his terms may still require considerable change and/or pain for us. We have to trust him that it will be worth it.

Nothing to join

You don't have to fully believe the SYNC Courage Declaration before you start using it-- "This is a day of risk, and we have courage."

However, you do have to believe that it could come true during this season, and you have to be willing for Jesus to make it true for you. Leave it up to him to figure out how.

Meanwhile do not imagine that courage is a feeling. It is more a choice backed up by an action. A soldier may be filled with fear and yet make a courageous choice to risk a courageous action. He does not wait for the fear feeling to die down. He has courage because he takes a courageous action whether he feels brave or not.

When you say, ". . . and we have courage," you are saying, "We choose to accept the risks that go with SYNCing with Christ."

Never assume that SYNCing with Christ will mean a comfortable life. Christ did not go through his agony so you could stay in your comfort zone. He died to recruit you to his plan. When his plan clashes with your comfort zone, he gives you the courage to choose to go with the plan, pain and all. You will still have inner peace in SYNC with Christ, but you may be miles from comfortable.

There is no SYNC organization or church you will be asked to join, and nothing to donate to. You are not SYNCing to an organization but to Christ himself.

On the other hand, SYNCing with Christ means you are in SYNC with everybody else who is also in SYNC with him. It's like devices that are synced to the same master device are also synced with each other even if they have never been in direct contact.

Belief change?

As you start SYNCing with Jesus, he may rock your beliefs and your world at some points where you have been living out of SYNC.

The assumption of SYNC is that we are all out of SYNC somewhere, probably several places. As we get more into SYNC with Jesus, especially as we read or listen to the Bible, we gradually become more like him, wired more like he is wired. If you end up in SYNC with him, you will believe what he believes.

You can preview the seven SYNC "declarations" and the seven SYNCing prayers for the seven seasons if you want to see where this is going. Don't worry if these don't all look believable to you right now.

The "belief" bar for entry into Jesus' dance class is very low. We just have to listen to him once we are in the class.

How does SYNCing relate to believing?

Believing can end in your head. SYNCing can't. It always turns into action because you are connecting to Christ, and he is working a plan. If you "believe" but do not do anything about it, you are not in SYNC with the plan.

Is SYNC just a form of positive thinking?

No, SYNC is connecting us to things that already happened. When a nation celebrates its independence day, that is more than positive thinking or wishful thinking.
