Your goals during Power Season, May 30 - August 6:

1) Becoming whoever the Spirit of Jesus empowers you to become

2) Doing whatever the Spirit empowers you to do

How do you get the power of God to change you at a deep level inside and to work through you for the good of others? How do you "move with the Power rhythm"?

For starters, repeat the three following things often:

1. We are walking evidence that the power of the Spirit of Jesus is still working.

When you SYNC (See Yourself iN Christ), this is one of the things you see. Jesus was the center of the God's strategy to bring the power of heaven to earth. If you are "in Christ," his power comes into you like a rising tide. He changes you in ways you cannot change yourself. He empowers you to do things that are not humanly possible.

2. This is a Pentecost day, and we have power.

We call this the "Power Declaration." As a person in SYNC with Jesus, you are authorized to declare this, so use your authority. Shape your world. Make your day. Be sure to notice that we do not declare that we feel powerful. The Power Declaration says we have power whether we feel like it or not. The Holy Spirit is in us all day every day. We just have to learn to act like it, living in SYNC with the Spirit.

3. Make us a signal of the Spirit's power. Let it work. Let it work. Let it work.

This is the "Power Prayer" that SYNCs us with the Declaration. We welcome the power that Jesus wants to put into us so we can play our part in his mission. That is how we get our significance.

Why do these three statements work?

The "5G" flow in these three statements

Why do these three statements work?

Because they clue us in to God's strategy to make his power work for the good of the whole world, and they sign us up to become part of that strategy.

Jesus Christ is the center of God's strategy to use his power. If we see ourselves in Christ, we see ourselves as linked to his strategy, which is nothing like the strategy we would choose if we had God's power.

We would force things. That is the only way to guarantee everyone will do things the way we want them. If we let people choose, some of them will do the wrong thing and the world won't be perfect.

But God lets people choose, and that is where we come in. We are the early adopters of the change God wants the whole world to make. We choose to invite his power to work on us, in us, and through us. We then become exhibits of his power, and other people get to see what happens to us before they try it themselves.

Bible verses behind these three statements

Key verse in the New Testament about the Power Rhythm

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1.8

Key Power verse in the Old Testament

"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the prisoners.” Isa 61.1, quoted by Jesus in Lk. 4.18

The "5G" flow that is behind these three statements

Pentecost (the day Jesus sent his Holy Spirit) is the game-changer that is the basis of the Power Rhythm.

The gift we get as a result is power for good, power to participate in Jesus' mission in the new era.

Get it

If we "get it," if we understand God's game-changer and the gift, that is the "Ah-hah moment" when something inside us changes.

Go with it

After that, the only thing to do is to "Go with it," living out what God has done inside us. We become walking evidence of God's power on earth. The things that are happening to us and through us are things we could not do. Some other force is at work.

We find our authentic identity in Christ. We are 100% genuine people, the same inside and out. We become part of God's strategy to transform the world through using his power for good.
