Four-round coaching

Questions your coach will discuss with you
(loosely followed)

A "round" of coaching may have one or more parts as needed, and these may be done in writing or in a virtual meeting. Coaching is available for individuals or teams.

1ST ROUND – Choosing and customizing a mini-story  (What is a mini-story?)

  1. What group do you have in mind as you are choosing one mini-story from the seven? Mention the location, language/culture, religion(s), plus other relevant points such as “university students,” “rural people,” “women.” (25-100 words)

A. Have these people (your “audience”) already started following Jesus? Yes, no, some of them (highlight your answer)

 2. Are you seen as an insider or an outsider by the group you described above?

A. If you are an outsider, how are you different than they are? (10-50 words)

B. If you are an outsider, how long have you been getting to know them?

C. If you have one or more partners as you customize the mini-story, describe who they are and how they are involved. (10-50 words)

D. Is your version of the mini-story going to be used in English? (Your answer affects our coaching style. We do not coach on details of English wording if that is not your goal.

 3. Which mini-story fits your group best—Life, Roots, Freedom, Power, Mercy, Honor, Vision?

A. Why do you believe that one fits best? (20-200 words)

B. What changes, if any, do you want to make to the mini-story before you start customizing the full “template” story that expands that mini-story? Use TRACK CHANGES (on the TOOLS menu) so Coach can see what you are changing.

C. Use COMMENT (on the INSERT menu) to explain how each tracked change improves the story for your audience. Mention your past experience if that is influencing your changes.

2ND ROUND – Customizing one of the “Who Are We?” story templates

  1. Paste your version of the mini-story from the end of the 1st round of coaching here.

  2. Copy the corresponding “template” story, and paste it here underneath the mini-story.

  3. Customize the template story. Use TRACK CHANGES so Coach can see what you are changing.

  4. Explain how each tracked change improves the story for your audience. Use COMMENT so your explanations show in the margin. Mention your past experience if that is influencing your changes.

3RD ROUND – Testing your story

  1. With whom did you test your story the first time (or the first few times)? The test should be with one or more of the people you customized it for.

  2. What worked well?

  3. What did not go so well?

  4. What might you improve next time?

4TH ROUND -- Praising God!

 1. Where did you sense that God was working in you and/or in the hearer(s) during this process?

 2. How did you benefit from the process yourself?

 3. Who else benefited, and how?

 4. Who have you told, being sure to give God the credit?
